Some Requirements to Meet the Used Car Lemon Law
Attempting to understand the ins and out of lemon laws can be challenging, to say the least. Here, we’ve provided a mini-guide into how lemon laws function with your used vehicle. But first, a refresher on what lemon laws entail…
What are lemon laws? Lemon laws are state-by-state laws that offer a solution for consumers who purchase defective vehicles and related products.
What are the requirements for a car to qualify as a lemon? This can vary per state, but generally, in order to qualify as a lemon, your car must meet the following criteria:
1) The car in question must have a substantial defect (i.e., a problem covered by your warranty that completely impairs the car’s use) that prevents the vehicle from running properly
2) This defect must be covered by the warranty that occurred within a certain amount of time
3) The car must not be able to be fixed, even after a number of attempts to repair it.
