Some Requirements to Meet the Used Car Lemon Law

used car lemon lawAttempting to understand the ins and out of lemon laws can be challenging, to say the least. Here, we’ve provided a mini-guide into how lemon laws function with your used vehicle. But first, a refresher on what lemon laws entail…

What are lemon laws? Lemon laws are state-by-state laws that offer a solution for consumers who purchase defective vehicles and related products.

What are the requirements for a car to qualify as a lemon? This can vary per state, but generally, in order to qualify as a lemon, your car must meet the following criteria:

1)  The car in question must have a substantial defect (i.e., a problem covered by your warranty that completely impairs the car’s use) that prevents the vehicle from running properly

2) This defect must be covered by the warranty that occurred within a certain amount of time

3) The car must not be able to be fixed, even after a number of attempts to repair it.
